Other successful World Sailing Management events and projects
Involved in the 1992 Olympic Games (Barcelona). WSM worked closely with the host broadcasters and overall organisers as Technical Delegate for the International Yacht Racing Union. Determined to make the Games the best ever for the sport of sailing, WSM revolutionised TV's approach and succeeded, for the first time ever, in obtaining live coverage of many sailing events.ISAF Nations Cup Finals 1993 Hoorn (Netherlands). WSM's new ideas, which were often controversial but always enthusiastic, led to a completely new event - the Nations Cup. WSM was from then on also responsible for all sponsorship arrangements relating to the Nations Cup.
The Nations Merit Cup Hobie Challenge 1995, 1996 & 1997 (Italy). This competition was developed for teams made up of two boats (Hobie Cat 16) per nation competing in four different types of racing: long distance, team racing, relay racing and night racing. All courses were situated close to the beach and beach starts were used giving the competition its unique character.
Yet another concept organized by World Sailing Management.O'Neill Indoor World Cup Surfing 1995 Amsterdam (Netherlands). First ever international indoor World Cup surfing competition organised in Amsterdam.
World Championships Hobie Cat 1996 (Dubai). Second ever Hobie Cat World Cup to be organized for the first time in Dubai by World Sailing Management.
The O'Neill World Sailing Rankings In 1997 World Sailing Management gave a new name to the World Sailing Rankings. Approached by World Sailing Management to link their name to the rankings, O'Neill, as title sponsor, has profited by listening.
