The 1998 ISAF World Sailing Championship (Dubai, United Arab Emirates)

 

In 1995 World Sailing Management was invited by the government of Dubai to organise the World Sailing Championship. This event was to be one of the biggest sports events World wide in 1998.

In March of 1998, 1500 individual competitors and teams from more than 80 nations gathered in Dubai to participate in what would be the start of the biggest sailing event in 1998 and in Dubai. 300 brand new competitor boats, spars and sails were shipped in together with 62 race committee boats.

World Sailing Management personnel worked together with more than 500 people and with volunteers from 21 different nations. After nine days of racing more than 400 hours of television was broadcasted World wide to 171 countries. Full contentment among the competitors, the International Sailing Federation, the organisation committee and the Dubai authorities was the result of a one-year total commitment of World Sailing Management specialists.
